Happy Birthday Nathan, We love you!!

Friday, February 6, 2004- 5 years ago, Nathan was born. It was to be the biggest adventure that we would ever have. Though I can remember life before motherhood, I can't imagine life without this special little guy. What a blessing he has been to our family!

Top 10 Nathan:

1. Used to call himself NaaNaa (couldn't say Nathan) but doesn't like to be called Nate
2. Has the best sense of humor (told Lynn that he needed a treat because he was fixed, after Lynn told him he couldn't get him a treat today because he was broke)
3. Wants a sister named Sissy or Spiderman (whichever fits her better)
4. When he was 2, he had a dream that an elephant ate my hair, so he has never been fond of elephants
5. Favorite food is mommy's spicy chili, broccoli (trees), and apples...also really loves candy and pepsi :(
6. Loves to camp in Grandma and Grandpa's trailer...can't wait to go this year and Nathan and Mommy can sleep inside with Grandma and Grandpa (but because of lack of room-daddy has to sleep in the tent)

Honey Bunches!!

I am such a sucker, but this kitty has been crying outside our house for a week now. So I caved and brought her/him in. If it isn't bad enough that the poor thing has been outside freezing and starving, I brought it in and gave it a bath...which it didn't like very much!!
Please, if you know anyone who is missing or wants a nice kitty, and who seems to be box trained, then let me know. Honey Bunches or Winnie (We haven't decided, but Nathan picked the names) is a calico, we think she is a girl, and is declawed (and probably fixed). She would make a nice addition to anyones home...please take her!

Santa Claus is comin' to town!

Each night when we get home from school and work we go to our advent calender and Nathan gets to eat a piece of chocolate. It has been a great way for him to see that there are still a few days until Christmas. For us it has been a break from hearing "is it tomorrow yet" which means is it Christmas.

We have had a nice time preparing for the holidays, but I wish it would snow. Some of the things we plan on doing for the holidays:
1. drive around and look at lights

2. go sledding

3. go ice skating (that one may hurt)

4. watch the old fashioned kids Christmas movies

5. get hot cocoa and deliver goodies to the neighbors

6. sing Christmas songs as much as we can

7. go shopping

8. eat lots of good food

Frightmares

Nathan and Lynn at the beginning of our Frightmares adventure!!

Last Saturday we packed up early and headed to UT with Trevor and Heather and their kids. On the way down we hit Smith and Edwards, which has a great supply of kitchen ware, and candy. It also has a lot of preparedness items, but we went for the candy. After that we headed to Lagoon for Frightmares. It was so busy!! Nathan and Tannon were riding every ride we would let them on. They even went to a haunted house. It was so fun to watch them enjoy the rides. Lynn and I broke away, thanks Trevor and Heather, and rode the Spider. I realized that I was getting old because I got scared on the ride. I am usually such a daredevil, but I saw the first signs of what is known as fuddyduddyism. It happens to everyone, but I guess I just got it a little early. Next year I am going on every ride, if it kills me!!!

Soccer Mom, I am not!!

On September 6th, Nathan started his first season of soccer (flower picking and jungle gyming). For some reason I thought it would be a good idea to help coach. I definitely was wrong about it being a good idea. Not only do I have to try and teach the other kids how to play soccer, and be good sports, I have to try to collect my son from the toys that he would rather play on than learn soccer. It is quite a challenge I am sure I won't take on again!

However, it is fun to watch the kids run all over the place with the ball! I really wanted Nathan to love soccer (as opposed to football, which is what his dad hopes for), but it looks like this year he is all about the jungle gym!! Oh well, maybe soccer is just not his thing.

Back to School!!

I know I am a month behind on posting, but I still thought these pictures were so cute that I couldn't go without posting them. Nathan went back to pre-school on September 3rd. He is doing well and making friends. I have lately had those moments were all of the sudden I realize my baby is growing up. He says smart, funny things, his clothes aren't fitting, and he can do so much! I am proud of Nathan and hope he has a great year at school!
